i was always a kde lover. there was time when i even didnt installed gnome because it was so clumsy. but there was a time where my harware got incompatible and linux and me were separated.
after a long time
so i was jumping at irc for my kde problem. i was upgrading my kde and boom, no panel, no background no nothing.
anyway i suddenly saw a person asking for a software that could tell the net usage on daily/monthly etc basis. so i said to myself, hey! i also had that problem, and i solved it. so as a good person (of course i am a nice guy) i told him that use netmeter by installing it via wine.
the next thing i could not belive, some guy was so angry that he started yelling at me (not litrally, but it felt like that). saying you are crazy, why do you need wine, linx can do everything blah blah bla. i was just shocked and simply asked whats wrong with this way. then the person whom i suggested also became angry. to take the charge of the situation i calmly said netmeter does its job pretty well and its easy. furthermore its an open source software. even that was not enough and tantrums were thrown like anything. i had to log out. huh.
i dont get it, whats the problem if the software is open source. that guy must be credited for his open-mindedness. i wont have a problem if tomorrow microsoft says we are going open sorce ( i dont have a problem with them even today, its just that i like open siurce philosophy more).
i maybe wrong, but this is how i feel. any comment on this subject is welcome
